Increasing persecution of Uyghur Muslims in China
Mohammed Haroon Osman, Hyderabad, India (Deccan).
The whole world has become a spectator at the peak of cruelty and violence against Muslims in China, the criminal silence of Muslim countries and OIC has surprised the Islamic world, Western countries talk about human rights and talk about human life. As soon as there is a human rights problem with Muslims in any part of the world, these countries keep silent.
Whether the Arab countries or other countries are silent on this action of China, China is oppressing Muslims under the guise of security and peace of the country and playing with their lives and faith while torturing Muslims.
Since 2016, incidents of discrimination against the Uyghur Muslim minority in Xinjiang have seen a gradual increase.
The German Foreign Ministry has prepared this report in the light of information from human rights organizations, lawyers, embassies of Western countries and international organizations. The German Foreign Ministry has prepared this report on alleged human rights violations in China.
The Uyghur community in China’s northwestern Xinjiang province are Muslims of Turkic origin and their language is similar to the Turkish language. The Uighurs are Sunni Muslims.
In this report of the assessment of human rights in China, the German Foreign Ministry further stated that about one million Uyghur Muslims live in Xinjiang and one million of them are detained or imprisoned in the detention centers and camps of the Chinese authorities. China built these alleged camps for Uighur Muslims in late 2016. The report claims that the Uyghur community has been sexually assaulted in these camps and that there have been deaths due to physical violence.
China calls these camps ideological educational institutions, where the people brought in are ideologically refined. The Beijing government has also maintained that the reason for most of the violent incidents in Xinjiang is the struggle of Muslims for an independent state.
In addition, this report states that China is pressuring Egypt, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand to send back Uighurs who fled China. According to the report, the Chinese authorities are keeping a close eye on other Muslim minorities, including the Uyghurs.
In the recent past, the Berlin government has been criticized by critics for not openly condemning the Beijing government for what happened in Xinjiang because of its economic interests. It should be noted that the factories of major German companies such as Siemens and Volkswagen are established in Xinjiang. The report has been prepared as a guidance document for Germany’s Federal Office for Refugees and Immigrants to help them decide on asylum applications from Uyghur Muslims.
The need of the hour is for Muslim countries to send a message to China in one voice and show their faith, then eventually China will treat its citizens humanely. An economic boycott should be done, then there is hope to find a solution to this problem.
